Mad about Science

Greenfield has over 250 "mad scientists" out there working on their science fair experiments.  These are our third, fourth and fifth graders.  Fourth and fifth graders are working on individual experiments which will count as a major part of their Science grade.  Our third graders are working on their projects in teams to learn how to complete the projects.
Our Science Fair will be judged on January 19 by a team of guest judges from middle and high schools.  The focus of this learning project is for our students to understand the scientific process and how it works in the real world.  Each of them started with a question about something they were interested in.  The next step was to investigate what has already been done - research.  Based on their research, they made a hypothesis or guess about what their experiment would prove. Then they had to plan the experiment and collect data.  That's where they are now - conducting the experiment.  After collecting the data, they will analyze it and draw their conclusions.  Some of them will find out that their hypothesis was correct and others will find theirs to be incorrect and that is fine, too.
Many of them will be asking to watch the Mythbusters on television to see how science experiments are conducted and can be FUN!  Remember that we all want to do our science experiments safely!
